Delivering her signature sultry vocals in a track drenched in soulful romance, Marquita Brown has released new single ‘Red Tape’. A grooving bass line settles into the track, helped in bringing movement by the constant driving drum rhythms. Enticing electric guitar elements provide counter melodies to the lead vocals, whilst twinkling piano melodies glitter the backdrop. It’s atmospheric and hazy, more nostalgic with each new bar that falls on your ears.
Marquita explains, "Throughout this song there are religious and conservative metaphors used to speak about all people and institutions who want others to conform or ‘fit’ into an agenda. This is usually because they've either done so themselves or put on a highly calculated, forward-facing facade - all while wishing or doing otherwise privately. They become unnerved with other's freedom to do as they please and want some form of repentance or punishment, to derail a free spirit, to create "Red Tape"."
Marquita Brown is a Georgia-based artist who seems to bend genre’s to her will for a signature soundscape that merges slow jams, soulful blues and rock sensibilities.
