The French duo (The) Next Door introduces themselves to the world with their debut EP ‘Non Finito’.
With influences ranging from alternative rock and new wave to dream pop, ‘Non Finito’ embraces an eclectic yet cohesive sound that challenges genre expectations. The talented duo is not afraid to experiment, mixing vibrant rock vibes with modern production to give each track a timeless yet refreshing feel.
‘Secret Garden,’ the latest single off the EP, showcases magnetic guitar riffs, setting the tone for a deep dive into the psychology of love and obsession. The track’s slow build and explosive finish draw the listener into the storyline with a sense of emotional urgency. It’s a familiar tale of toxic romance but told with a fresh, rock-driven intensity that avoids clichés, making it one of the EP’s most memorable pieces.
Other standouts include ‘Leave’ and ‘Recall,’ each tackling the theme of departure from different angles. The lead single ‘Leave’ is introspective and open-ended. Its deeper sound and subtle lyrics give listeners space to interpret its meaning for themselves. On the other hand, 'Recall' leans into a gentler, dream-pop feel, setting the scene for a more hopeful narrative that perfectly contrasts its counterpart.
With 'Son of a Gun,' (The) Next Door takes a darker, alternative turn, diving into new wave influences and introspective lyrics that tackle inner conflict. The EP wraps up with 'Cinemascope,' a celebration of Hollywood icons that showcases the duo's versatility and their knack for blending nostalgia with contemporary sounds.
Collaborating with Manchester musician Dean Chord and writer Isabelle Guedj, (The) Next Door uses 'Non Finito’ to introduce a sound that’s fresh, yet grounded in universal themes. With its bold mix of influences, this EP will appeal to fans of alternative rock and dream pop alike, and it’s safe to say that (The) Next Door is a band to watch as they continue to refine their sound and grow their fanbase!
