Pauline Andres redefines disco-pop with new single 'Different Now'

Pauline Andres is no stranger to reinvention. Born in France to a coal miner’s family and raised on the cultural crossroads near the Franco-German border, her life has always been a patchwork of contrasts. From her early days absorbing Hungarian and Balkan traditions in a multilingual home to her current base in Nashville, TN, Andres has worn many musical hats — and her new single, “Different Now,” is yet another testament to her evolution.

This latest release is a bold step into the realm of disco-pop, capturing a spirit that’s equal parts carefree and introspective. “Different Now” opens with lush, emotive piano notes that quickly build into a contagious rhythm, merging house beats with shimmering synths. Co-produced with UK-based George Harris, the song layers a funky groove beneath a melody that practically demands a dance floor. It’s fresh, infectious, and exactly the kind of song you’d play with the windows down, cruising into a long summer night.

Lyrically, “Different Now” goes beyond the surface of its danceable exterior. Andres weaves a narrative of healing and personal growth, using the metaphor of clothing as a symbol for the emotions we choose to show or hide. She describes the song as “a love letter to transformation” — not just in romantic relationships, but in all the ways we reconcile with ourselves and the world around us.

With its cool nods to 90s electro-pop and a sound that hints at artists like Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Caroline Rose, and Angel Olsen, “Different Now” is both nostalgic and forward-looking. The official music video, co-directed by Corey Simpson, complements the song's energy with vivid visuals, marking a new creative chapter for Andres.

“Different Now” is a statement. It’s Andres saying she’s here to grow, to evolve, and to redefine herself on her terms. And with that kind of passion and versatility, it’s hard not to be excited about what comes next.
