British alt-pop rising star PEARL has unveiled her latest single ‘Body Parts’. The first release after her acclaimed ‘Where I Go’ EP in the summer of last year, the new track is every bit the evolution tastemakers have been anticipating. Richly arranged synths paint a transcendent backdrop to PEARL’s effortlessly angelic vocals. As the notes resonate out into the atmosphere, the arrangement grows, with thick bass warmth, pounding drums and twinkling melodies taking the reigns. Graceful and gorgeous, it’s a strong return.
PEARL shares the story of the track, “To be honest…I was thinking about one-night stands… the good ones, the intoxicating moments of disconnected intimacy, where physical desire eclipses rationale.
This opened up a bigger conversation around sexual objectification. I realised the importance of distinguishing between wanting to objectify oneself, driven by mutual pleasure and consent, versus conforming to societal expectations. If both parties are willingly engaged, motivated by pleasure, I see no issue in embracing such desires.”
Tagged by publications as a spellbinding newcomer, PEARL’s vulnerable songwriting has also seen support from Spotify editorial playlists. Descriptive lyrics, radiant vocals and electronic instrumentals provide a unique new alt-pop soundscape which aims to transport listeners into an alternate sonic world.
