Scottish-born and Melbourne-based indie-rock and alternative-pop artist Quinny has unveiled the video for 'Up The Dollar', a standout track from his debut album, Outer Monologue, which is out now.
Known for blending emotive lyricism with infectious, guitar-driven soundscapes, Quinny has built a reputation for crafting songs that are equal parts poignant and playful. The new video continues this tradition, showcasing Quinny’s sharp wit and knack for blending humor with thought-provoking commentary.
Describing 'Up The Dollar' as a satirical take on alt-right ideologies, Quinny explains that the song was initially conceived as an exploration of a perspective far removed from his own. “It’s my attempt at writing a song from an alt-right perspective,” he says. “But I couldn’t escape my own bias, so it ended up becoming more of a comedy piece. It should probably come with a disclaimer: ‘This song is a work of fiction.’” The song’s biting humor pairs seamlessly with its catchy, guitar-led sound, cementing it as one of the most intriguing tracks on the album.
Produced by Robin Evans (The View, Dodgy) and Melbourne musician Rowena Wise, *Outer Monologue is a bold debut that features 11 tracks showcasing Quinny’s ability to marry intricate instrumentation with his signature lyrical style. Quinny’s musical journey reflects a blend of global influence and local inspiration. He has developed a unique style that bridges indie rock and alternative pop with playful nods to his influences. Relocating to Melbourne in 2020 after touring the UK and North America, Quinny found fresh creative energy in his new environment, which helped shape the sound and vision of Outer Monologue.
