Reggae Band Lion Height Release Latest Single 'Herbsman'

Outlaw Reggae outfit Lion Height’s new single “Herbsman” featuring Roots Reggae singer Lutan Fyah, is a harmonious mixture of genres, with the crafting of a unique and oftentimes thought-provoking track.

Herbsman is the lead single from the band’s upcoming album Not Done Fighting Riddin, Recorded at Lion Heights ‘Tall Sky Studio’ in Austin, the track was pieced together by a variety of talents, from Lutan Fyah to the song’s main writer Dane Foltin

Speaking on the track Foltin said: “This was the fastest I’ve ever started and finished a song. It was a joy to just let the creativity flow and not get hung up trying to make something too deep lyrically.” The song stays in tune with this ethos, a vibrant and bright tune, that makes for a traditionally easy and relaxed Reggae feel.

Comprised of Dane Foltin (Bass), Jeremy Carlson (Lead voc, keys), and James Campbell (Guitar), the band have already gained a respected roots and reggae reputation.

The music is moving, soothing and new, with Herbsman being anthem filled with thoughts of sunshine, serenity and love, with the band’s familiar use of brass and keys mixing wonderfully, keeping a distinct beach vibe in time. There are many desirable layers to this track, but its key charm is its cleancut simplicity. Marking an unquestionable sophistication from their previous releases, the group find lyrical strength and roundness in this track.

Lion Heights will be doing a joint tour with Drifting Roots in September. Being the band's first time ever performing in Florida, the trio said of the stretch: “Really looking forward to introducing all this new music to a new group of people. I feel like any place that has a beach culture has a love and respect for Reggae music. We have been wanting to come to Florida for a while now so we are extra grateful Drifting Roots was able to help us make it happen”.
