Emerging from their compact studio hideaway in Berkshire, Rila’s Edge are back — and they’re louder, sharper, and more emotionally charged than ever. Their new single ‘Undone’, a fizzing slice of indie-alt-rock euphoria, sees the five-piece once again fuse raw emotional honesty with stadium-sized ambition.

Since their 2021 debut, Rila’s Edge — composed of Alfie Harris, Ollie Hedin, Jacob Green, George Maclean, and Charlie Kennedy — have gone from grassroots buzz to national spotlight, racking up festival appearances, sold-out headline shows, and a passionate fanbase drawn to their high-octane live performances and emotionally resonant songwriting.

Produced by a growing collaborative team including Jordan Timms and Max Smith (of Numen Studios, known for work with VC Pines and The Hunna), and Max Helyer (guitarist of You Me At Six), ‘Undone’ is a sonic step forward for the band. The track starts in subdued territory — introspective and pensive — before erupting into a surging, cathartic chorus. It’s a carefully constructed build-up that showcases the band’s knack for crafting dynamics that hit hard without losing emotional nuance.

Lead vocalist Ollie Hedin explains: "We wanted to capture the same energy as a track like ‘1979’ by The Smashing Pumpkins, but if early U2 recorded it.

The lyrics were written when I was suffering with depression and feelings of low self-worth. I had also just entered my first proper relationship and was completely in love. With those two events happening, I kept thinking about how people say ‘you need to love yourself before you can love someone else’. I felt like that statement didn’t ring true for me at the time and I hadn’t ever heard anyone dispute the saying before, so I decided to write about how love and low-self worth interact.

The verses are the inner reflections and the chorus is the expression of the reflection. Musically, I wanted the verses to sound like an old rock and roll track from the 50’s and then explode into a big, open, indie chorus.

We had a lot of fun recording this track and went a bit crazy using all of Max Helyer’s equipment to get mad delays and really crisp sounding guitars. The sonic compass of the band is starting to point more towards alt-rock with fuzzy grunge flourishes and we think this is a perfect track to start pushing in that direction.”

In 2024, their momentum only accelerated. From opening for buzzed-about acts like Courting and Sad Boys Club to headlining Wokingham Festival to packed-out crowds, the band’s live reputation is blossoming. On Spotify, they’ve landed spots on editorial playlists like Fresh Finds Rock and amassed over 280,000 streams — a testament to their growing influence.

With ‘Undone’, Rila’s Edge prove they’re not just riding the wave of UK indie resurgence — they’re helping shape its next chapter. The track is both a personal exorcism and a communal anthem, equal parts heartbreak and catharsis, delivered with the kind of conviction that turns cult favourites into future headliners.
