Robin "Sh8kes" Williamson, the poet, author, motivational speaker, and founder of Bull City Dawgs, has just released his latest single, “Move On.” The track marks his return after the 2024 EP Necessary Pain and sees him team up with Bay Area’s The Grouch of Living Legends, with production by Skii.

"Move On" is a reflection of Sh8kes' unique poetic voice — honest, raw, and deeply personal. His lyrics, steeped in lived experience, move listeners with a blend of resilience, vulnerability, and hope. The song is a powerful reminder to keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles in our path.

"This track is about the value and power in letting go and moving on. Sometimes that’s hard to do because of the love you might have for someone, but there comes a time when we start to become harmful to ourselves with resentment. I had to learn this the hard way. It’s usually best to just let go and move on before you start to become a burden to yourself. By letting go, you make room for relationships that inspire growth, opportunities that align with your purpose, and love that nurtures your soul. It’s a bold leap into a life where you no longer settle for less but strive for the best version of yourself... I wrote and recorded this poem almost three years ago. Around this time, DJ Fresh introduced me to The Grouch. I had been a fan of his and Murs for as long as I could remember, so I asked him if he could add a verse to the record and he was more than happy to. Originally, the record had a different instrumental produced by my little brother. When I ran into an issue with getting the record cleared, I went into the lab with Skii, we came up with something different and sent it back over to The Grouch, who then put me in touch with audio engineer extraordinaire Starski, who mixed and mastered the record, and now we’re here."

At the age of seven, Sh8kes found his love for poetry through the Southern rap sound of Big Rube, a pivotal influence that led him to write and explore the work of literary giants like Langston Hughes. In 2021, he released his debut EP Chance 2 Change, a deeply personal project narrated by Big Rube, that touched on themes of healing, love, and family.

"Move On" is another chapter in Sh8kes’ ongoing journey, and with the powerful collaboration of The Grouch, the track is sure to resonate with fans of his authentic, raw style. The single is out now and available across all streaming platforms.
