Rowan Flack has unveiled ‘Forest Fires’, a glowing melting pot of contemporary jazz, soul-pop and ballads stretched across a five-track EP. Introducing audiences to rich musicianship with each flourishing arrangement, Rowan crafts an enticing journey of emotion, taking listeners from joyous trumpet solos to evocative vocal performances. It’s an elegant tour of all her musical avenues, taking each track as it’s own bubble of elegant songwriting.
Rowan explains the track, “The track was written with Brazilian bassist Dinho Barral during a Help Musicians writing week with Squeeze's Chris Difford. We were very much inspired by Esperanza Spalding's music, groove-inspired with lots of layers. I also took some influence from Astrud Gilberto's sound, her effortless delivery and gentle tone.”
BRIT alumna and jazz graduate Rowan Flack is emerging as a new voice within the world of UK jazz, with introspective tracks that introduce folk sensibilities for a unique sound. Acclaimed by a range of publications, receiving help musicians funding and backed by peers with equally impressive musical backgrounds, Rowan is cementing her place as an up-and-comer.
