Supported from across the industry, with the likes of Kitsuné Musique, BBC Introducing and the PRS Foundation all taking note, Runrummer has already graced the stages of Radio 1’s Big Weekend and charted on iTunes. Spotify editorial placements and press acclaim have also tagged her with rising star status as her debut album Elevator begins to emerge along the horizon.
As a recipient of the coveted PRS Foundation ‘Women Make Music’ Award, Runrummer has unveiled the first peek into the debut LP. Single ‘Not Quite Over You’ provides listeners with a unique blend of joy and introspection. Laced within shimmering synth melodies, grooving bass and guitar parts and pounding indie-pop drums, the artist dives through wistful and melancholic themes, adding a sense of reservedness to the track's otherwise blissful atmosphere. The track speaks to a romance gone sour despite deep-seated feelings remaining present, with the dichotomy of bright sounds and dark emotions perfectly contextualising these feelings.
Runrummer shares, “‘Not Quite Over You’ is a song about heartache for a relationship gone wrong; when you love someone irrevocably but the feeling is unrequited. Now the partner has moved on to someone else but you can’t understand what they have that you couldn’t provide, and you can’t for the life of you get over it. Inspired by the sounds of Fleetwood Mac, drawing similarities particularly in the chorus vocal harmonies, the song is also evocative of boygenius, Phoebe Bridges and Shura, with a vocal tone reminiscent of La Roux.”
