In 2018, S.F. Johnson made the move to Tokyo from the UK, this kickstarted a solo music career that would see him develop a signature sound that is both nostalgic and futuristic. His debut EP ‘Songs form an Empty Orchestra’ showcased his own blend of genres placed under the ‘Motel Pop’ umbrella. The artist merges New Wave, alt-rock, disco and blues together to tell stories from his life, conveying them with a deep emotional connection.
The latest single released by S.F. Johnson is his track ‘Strangers’, its a track that instantly hits you with nostalgia. Electric guitars, melodies in the keys, and subtle, subdued vocal all laced in a hazy outer shell. It’s a glittery as it is spirited, with Johnson taking us on a journey that will leave you with a smile on your face and a passion for his music.
Johnson shares, “Strangers is about shaking off the things that get you down, reflecting and acknowledging change. Sometimes the things that once brought happiness, no longer do. To be a stranger in your own game is a weird feeling. I think it’s important to acknowledge this and move on, rather than live in something that no longer allows you to grow.”
Johnson now looks forward to his upcoming LP, ‘Digital Utopia’ which promises to have a track list that will see his name fly to the top of the industry.
