Greek artist Semeli Tagara returns with her latest, Insane Sane, an expansive new record that delves into modern human connection.
Building on the momentum of her summer EP Horizon and recent singles “The One” and '1,2,3', Insane Sane arrives as a culmination of her projects so far. Showcasing Tagara's meticulous approach to experimental soundscapes, the new record weaves together diverse instrumentals and ethereal vocals, creating an immersive sonic landscape. Here, rhythm and emotion dance in perfect harmony.
The opening track ''Future Idea” gives audiences an immediate peek into the project's essence. The album's title, Insane Sane, interpolates between those states of feeling, and the songs throughout the record reflect that. Standout tracks “Absolute Grace” & “Something 2” introduce a disco frenzy, where Tagaras’ suggestion to “dance yourself off the ground” lands to the somber - slap in your face- statement “I needed you - not scared to say…I want it all” !
Thessaloniki-born Semeli Tagara has been crafting her unique musical vision since age six, when she composed her first original piece. Her journey has included her signing with Sony Music in 2002. She's also shared stages with acclaimed artists Calexico, Dot Allison, David Lynch and Red Snapper. She's also performed secret shows with Steve Wynn of Dream Syndicate in both Thessaloniki and Athens.
Tagara's avant-garde projects, including "Transformation of Silence" and "Lmn Drmpts", have captivated audiences across Greece and at the Bosh Festival in Skopje. Her work extends into performance art and film, composing for short films and collaborating with die Wolke art group on "Cascade". Notable performances include the Bird On A Wire tribute to Leonard Cohen at prestigious venues such as the Megaron Concert Hall in Thessaloniki and Skrow Theater in Athens.
