Sophie Kilburn has quickly but surely made herself known amongst the indie pop crowd. Possessing a somewhat retro flare with her booming synths and melodic hooks that catch instantaneously, she has combined this with a modern, punchy and upbeat sound match. The result has been mightily impressive, and Sophie has wasted no time in getting her first body of work out into the world, 'My Room Made Public'.
Featuring the single 'I'm In Love With My Therapist', Sophie has a confidence to make herself completely vulnerable with her unapologetic and honest lyricism. Opening up on her mental health on this one, it's a slow indie-pop jam that gives a casual nod to Soccer Mummy, all whilst encompassing Sophie's own style and charm.
'Movements' is certainly the statement from the EP, where Sophie showcases her effortless knack of crafting a fresh sounding pop song together. Along with that full band feel and performance, with soft-rock guitar riffs and an almost classic 90s feel to it, Kilburn has risen above the noise with super catchy number.
"With My Room Made Public, I wanted to create a body of work that is an emotionally open and honest introduction to me as an artist and the songs I write. It is chapter one of what I hope will become a classic trilogy. At the end of the day, I just want to bring emotional comfort and make people want to fight for what they want out of life, find themselves in their own way and to never settle for something that hurts them. I guess I am trying to do that for myself too but there is always strength in numbers.” - Sophie Kilburn
