Made up of Dylan Lee on vocals and guitar, Sebastian Zamfirescu also on guitar, Noel Walker-O’Dowd on bass and Robin Smith on drums, the band known as Sorrell formed during their time at Leicester University. Energetic live performances and debut EP ‘Wait For Bliss’ have both helped the band to grow into the local heroes they are today. Aside from that they’ve seen acclaim from BBC Introducing and played at Leicester’s Handmade Festival.
]‘For Once’ is the latest offering from the four piece, featuring dreamy guitars that build into heavy and aggressive riffs. Capturing the haze of psychedelia, the band take on a Radiohead-esque disjointed feel that is simply bewitching. The soft cry of the vocals, paired with melodies that gently swirl around your ears. Brought into perspective through the consistent drum grooves the track creates a beautifully open atmosphere from start to finish.
Vocalist Dylan Lee shares, "’For Once’ is a song that combines a lot of our different sonic influences, going from a mellow dream-pop song into a heavier, experimental rock song. I was influenced by slowcore bands such as Duster and Low during the writing of it, trying to give it a similar hollow, bittersweet feeling to the song. It’s about dealing with existential dread, and the mild anxiety about the everyday, yet still having the hope of escaping from it.”
