Talon David releases the melancholy single ‘Wading Through The Memories’

Talon David has released a new single entitled ‘Wading Through The Memories’. The track comes alongside the announcement of her forthcoming second album and sets the scene for the project with gorgeous raw passion and astute emotional observations. By bringing the empowered melancholy of her lead vocal and angelic layers of harmony to a backdrop that steadily grows in energy, Talon laces optimism in the heartbreak. Playful piano chords and tension-building drums dominate the instrumentation, creating an ebb and flow that pulls at the forlorn atmosphere across the track’s runtime.

Talon explains the track, "This song was written when I came back to the UK after spending Christmas with my family. It's a little peek into my thought process, after living in another country for several months and wondering if I'd made the right decision. I knew my place was London professionally and personally, but I had an undeniable craving for my family and really, familiarity in general. I found myself looking through old pics on my phone for hours on end. Ultimately, this song is for anyone in a tug-of-war with the past and the future.

Like 'Anomaly' this song starts with a piano riff, but it's cyclical and minor. I wanted this song to evoke feelings of hurtling through the deepest part of space: minimalistic, empty yet heavy, with a momentum you're not sure you can stop. The background voices are the realizations, the emphasis, the sinking feeling in your stomach, and the bass arrives to take the bottom out as you realize you have no idea where you're headed."

Growing up in a musical household just outside of Nashville, Talon David was introduced to a vast range of musical influences that would go on to inform her songwriting. Writing her first song at 15, Talon caught the bug and has gone on to be recognised by GRAMMY, attain a Bachelor of Music from Belmont University and appear on projects such as Neal Morse's prog rock opera Jesus Christ: The Exorcist. Releasing her self-engineered debut album in 2021, Talon has set herself on providing a safe space for her audience through music.
