The AJM Show releases the cinematic new single ‘Are You Looking For Me?’

Exploring a new and melancholic direction, The AJM Show returns with his third single ‘Are You Looking For Me?’. Maintaining his glimmering indie-pop signature sound, the artist introduces a wistfulness and dreamy atmosphere into the track, with bewitching instrumentation slowly taking over the more playful guitar grooves. As each layer builds, the lead vocal passionately cuts through the climax, showcasing itself as the focus as the same line repeats with more and more emotion. Creating something cinematic, The AJM Show grabs your attention with both hands and doesn’t let go until you settle into the final chord.

Alex Martin, the man behind The AJM Show, explains, “Are You Looking For Me? delivers a more dreamy, romantic image to my head. It feels like it has the essence of something The Verve would bring out, it has quite a retro 90s feel to it. Perhaps a Noel Gallagher HFB comparison would be fitting too. It's about a departure, growth, evolution and change. Moving forwards in life but looking back for a glimpse occasionally. Running your course with someone and longing for the beginning by the end.

It was another track conceived in lockdown no. 3. I was living in Reading at the time and I'd been flirting with a couple of ideas on the piano with this classic-sounding descending sequence, I could feel there was something round that corner. It eventually turned into that piano sequence. The song was written in quite a linear way, as is often the case with these releases, so verse 1 came first and the outro came last. All the lyrics just kind of flew out with the song, which is always the most satisfying way to write. I wrote this / recorded the demo in January 2021.”

Debuting earlier this year, The AJM Show comes as Alex Martin’s fresh new indie-pop project. His decorated influences have shone through to tastemakers, as each track gains press and radio attention, including BBC Introducing’s track of the week.
