It’s an absolute joy to see the Blockheads back on the road. John Turnbull was as amazing as ever with those iconic lyrics and Chaz Jankel was weaving his magic as usual switching from guitar to keyboards with Micky Gallagher at the helm playing all those iconic parts on cuts including clever Trevor, clever bastards, what a waste and my favourite of the evening Sweet Gene Vincent .
The whole band were totally rocking with some great hard Funk from John Roberts on drums and Nathan King on bass . Vocalist Mike Bennett put in an entertaining performance with a particularly good rendition of Clever Bastards.
The audience were totally jumping up and down, especially on the encore where the band did Hit Me and Blockheads .
Great to see the van back on the road in a brilliant testament to Ian Dury and of course the marvellous Derek the Draw.
A showcase worth checking out
