Cork-hailing five-piece The Cliffords have unveiled their debut EP ‘Strawberry Scented’, a project set to cement the band as unique new talents. Featuring five tracks including two completely fresh additions, the project is a perfect introduction to just how exciting The Cliffords are. The new track and EP opener ‘Second Skin’ is a lake of distorted frequencies, with the lead vocal crying out from the vast depth, and is followed by ‘Sleeping With Ghosts’, a track brimming with emotive lyricism and infectious melodies. Next up is ‘If The Shoe Fits’, a glowing indie-alt-rock anthem, followed by the most recent teaser, the dark and brooding ‘Feels Like a Man’, with the delayed power of the second chorus hitting even harder within the new context. The closer is another new track, ‘Shattered Glass’, a momentous and painful end to a spellbinding twenty-minute experience.
The band add, “‘Strawberry Scented’ is the soundtrack to our shared experience as vibrant, maturing, and unapologetically Irish youth. We wrote these songs to capture the complexities of love, heartbreak, and the self-reflective nature of our generation. What started as a bit of fun became a familial bond between musicians devoted to writing songs that we adore, even if they are a bit sad sometimes.”
Known for their vibrant energy and infectious indie sound, The Cliffords have already seen editorial support on the likes of Hot New Bands and A Breath of Fresh Eire, alongside national success with sold-out shows in Dublin, Galway, Cork and Limerick. Able to capture the complexities of love, heartbreak and self-reflection, the band look ahead to more milestone-breaking in 2024.
