Having been working together for many years already, most notably as part of the band Dive, singer/guitarist Jamie Stuart and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Nigel Powell have been steadily working towards their latest project The Exact Opposite. Developing a brilliantly broad and groove-filled aesthetic to call their own, they are now looking to get things underway with the release of their immersive debut single 'You Work For Us Now'.
As the first preview of their forthcoming debut album 'Skill Issue', recorded in Jonny Greenwood's studio, the Oxford-based duo are certainly looking to kick things off with a bang here. Exploring a wonderfully smooth and endearing indie-rock appeal that builds and swells throughout, 'You Work For Us Now' sees them enter the scene with a beautifully composed slice of guitar-driven gold.
While they may have only just sent their first piece of new material out into the world, the years of grind and sweat behind this new effort is apparent from start to finish. Oozing with a warm and inviting sensibility throughout, we can't wait to hear what this new album has in store for us as well.
