The Hogstad Brothers duo are back with another single to tease their brand new album, Creatures In The Dirt. The track, entitled ‘Take Me Higher’ is a blend of modern production from across the genre spectrum alongside a psychedelic intention. ‘Take Me Higher’ opens with a rapid arpeggiated synth and heavily processed vocal chops.
From there, the electronic enticer moves through dreamy, softly spoken vocals, pulsating drum machines and sparkling synths. The experimental aspect makes for a range of interesting vocal workings, with the main line arriving layered with vocalised shouts and pitched samples. Ending with an almost choral vocal sound, made through delay, its a slightly eerie, very captivating listen.
Sharing some information on the themes of the track, represented by the overwhelming sonic exploration, the pair add, “Take Me Higher is about looking in the mirror to ask oneself hard questions, then going all the way down the rabbit hole to get the answers.”
The band is based in Palmdale, California, and has been executing its songwriting, production and instrumental talents over the past two decades across the country and with a range of different bands. They’ve received tastemaker support along the way and are looking to make a long-awaited comeback with the upcoming album.
