The Publics crafts emotive atmospheres in new single ‘Gaslighter’

Continuing to show why they’ve become home-city heroes in Nottingham, The Publics have unveiled the fierce, aggressive and emotive new single ‘Gaslighter’. Leaving no room for steadiness in their punchy instrumental arrangement of non-stop drums, screaming lead guitar, full bass grooves and stadium-filling chords, the band pierce your heart with passionate vocal performances, ripping through emotional lyricism with a sense of unbridled passion as they power through climax after climax. Every part is kept in mind, allowed to shine amongst the incredible noise and high-octane energy.

The Publics share, “Gaslighter tells the story of a young man’s transition into fatherhood as he struggles to leave behind his troublesome former life. We aimed to portray the rift in the central characters focuses through the contrast of soaring choral backing vocals and sharp guitar solos.  The track is designed with festivals in mind, particularly the drum intro which not only sets the tone for the single’s energy but aims to capture the attention of new listeners. We’ve already performed the track live on numerous occasions and received some incredible feedback. We’re really excited to be putting this one out into the world!”

Fast-building a reputation for momentous atmospheres and relentless gig schedules, The Publics have supported the likes of The Sherlocks and The Lottery Winners, as well as headlining major venues such as Nottingham’s Rescue Rooms and The Bodega and gracing festival stages.

Inspired by indie favourites, the five-piece consists of Josh Porter, Elliot Stephenson, Ollie Siggee, Tom Scott and Taylor Gadsby, who each are making 2024 their most impressive year to date.
