The SoapGirls Reflect on Success of Grunge Anthem "Breathe" Ahead of US Tour

The SoapGirls, comprised of sisters Camille (bass, vocals) and Noémie Debray (guitar, vocals), have solidified their reputation as one of the nicest and most hardworking acts in the music scene today. Their deep social consciousness, stemming from personal life experiences, drives their mission to care for the less fortunate. This compassion was evident from the early days when they busked on the streets of Cape Town, captivating passers-by with bold performances and provocative lyrics. As they shared their talents, the sisters also sold soap to tourists, donating all proceeds to nearby hospitals, thus earning the moniker, The SoapGirls.

Touring the world for 6 to 8 months each year, The SoapGirls have managed to continually expand their ever-evolving discography. One of their most successful tracks to date, "Breathe," was released in 2022 along with an accompanying video. This grunge anthem showcases their unique sound, drawing on eclectic influences such as Jane's Addiction, A Perfect Circle, and Blondie.

"Breathe" is a testament to The SoapGirls' distinct style, blending thick guitar layers and pounding drums with pop-infused melodies and light harmonies. The track exemplifies their ability to swim effortlessly between intimate, soft vocals and raw, powerful growls, conveying a wide range of emotions. Thematically, "Breathe" emphasizes the power of living in the present, rejecting the past as a cage and allowing the future to unfold naturally.

The music video for "Breathe" complements the song's themes, reflecting the band's heartfelt approach to their art. As The SoapGirls prepare for their upcoming US tour, they reflect on the success of "Breathe" and the journey that has brought them to this point. Their relentless work ethic, combined with their genuine care for others and their passion for music, continues to resonate with fans worldwide.
