Already boasting an impressive 180 million streams across platforms, Tobias Bergson’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. With previous releases under major labels like Armada and Universal Music Austria, and support from DJ luminaries such as Don Diablo, Lost Frequencies, and Steve Aoki, Bergson is carving a distinct path in the dance music world. Tracks like Voices and Sunset Wave have seen millions of streams and earned spots on prestigious Spotify playlists, such as Chillout Lounge and Chill Tracks, further cementing his place in the industry.
From the moment Slowly begins, it pulls the listener in with its shimmering pads and Barefoot’s haunting, reverb-soaked vocals. The song immediately sets a spacious yet intimate atmosphere, full of emotional depth and tension. As the track progresses, a driving bassline emerges, accompanied by a shuffling breakbeat, atmospheric chords, and stuttering synths—each element carefully crafted to build a delicate yet powerful sense of euphoria. This track is a masterclass in balance, as Bergson effortlessly blends the emotive beauty of liquid soul with the pulsating energy of drum & bass.
“I spent a lot of time working with UK house beats during that period, and by chance, I stumbled upon this synth stutter-house sound. The sound comes from the VST plugin Hive. Altogether, it sounded really good to me. Back then, I got Simon's contact (Barefoot) through a label. I sent him a few songs, and this one stood out to him in particular. Three days later, he sent me a rough demo, and I was blown away—I've rarely heard such a clear voice. The whole project then sat around for months until now, when we're planning to release it in mid-February.”
The synergy between Tobias Bergson’s production and Barefoot’s vocals is nothing short of magical. There’s an undeniable sense of longing in their collaboration, and the track’s subtle, atmospheric progression invites the listener into a world of reflection and release. Bergson’s ability to weave melancholic undertones into his soundscapes without losing the infectious energy of the dancefloor is a testament to his artistry and technical prowess.
As Tobias continues to gain recognition with tracks that find a home in both underground and mainstream playlists, Slowly is a clear indication that his artistry is only evolving. With his upcoming projects and a steady presence at festivals like Spring Festival in Austria, Tobias Bergson’s rise shows no signs of slowing down.
