Emerging from Wellington’s fertile music scene, rock-pop four-piece Wet Denim return with their boldest track yet: 'Lonely (For a While)'. The single signals a new direction for the band—raw, restless, and resonant with the urgency of their dynamic live shows.

Originally conceived in the wake of their 2022 debut EP, 'Lonely (For a While)' began as a groovy, pop-leaning tune. But after two years of road-testing and evolution, it has transformed into a full-throttle rock anthem. It’s also a milestone for the band, marking their first track recorded entirely live in-studio in a classic rock setup.

Produced by Wet Denim alongside Dan Goodwin, mixed by Neil MacLeod, and mastered by Chris Chetland at KOG Studios, the single showcases everything fans have come to love about the band: soaring vocal hooks, introspective lyrics, and sharp guitar work—now elevated by the debut of bassist Joe Ledword’s bass synth, adding new depth to their sound.

Lyrically, the song explores themes of emotional independence and the strength found in solitude. “It’s about breaking free from unhealthy relationship cycles and finding peace in your own company,” the band shares. “This track feels like a strong new direction for Wet Denim. It captures the essence of our live energy and the journey we’ve taken as a band.”
